In 2014, Australia and India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that paved the door for sports collaboration between the two countries. Working with the Punjab Institute of Sports: An Analysis

Australia’s education and trade relations with India were strengthened by a mutual passion for sports excellence and the University of Victoria concluded a contract with the Punjab Government, in November 2016.
Victoria University analyses Punjab’s sports systems and develops a 10-year master project plan for 12 sports in the first two years of the project. The University will also share its expertise in sports science with highly qualified coaches and teachers through intensive educational classes and undertake student exchange programs with Punjab’s 3 state
universities.
In the third year, Victoria University will determine opportunities for a joint Master’s Degree and Philosophy Doctorate, which will cover the development of nutrition, biomechanics, and skills acquisition high-level protocols and curricula.
The Australia-India MOU created unrivalled opportunities for Australian sports institutions in India, says Dr. Camilla Brockett of the Institute of Sport, Exercises, and Active Living of Victoria University.
‘Indian governments have exposed the world’s leading Australian expertise in sports policies, business, science, and education with DFAT and Austrade providing strategic facilitation,’ she says.
