Australia India Trade Association

We have setup “Australia – India Trade Association (AITA)”, registered in Australia, with the single minded aim to increase trade between the two countries. The objective of this Association is to forge growing business partnerships by facilitating exchange of Products, Services, People and Investments across the board in multiple functional domains including but not restricted to EDTech, Blockchain, Electronics, Agri Tech, Dairy, Mining, Manufacturing etc. The Australian government back in 2017 commissioned Mr Peter Varghese, the Chancellor of the University of Queensland, to lead the development of an independent report to the Australian Government on an India Economic Strategy. The conclusion derived from the report is that the potential of India-Australia trade relationship is not tapped to its full potential and potentially can increase by hundreds of billions of dollars. This has set the wheels in motions and the Australian government had already set its sights at 2035 to achieve that goal.

Coupled with that Due to the unprecedented economic repercussions of the COVID pandemic both countries are eager to kick start the economy and drive growth. Australia especially has never in the recent times seen economic decline of this magnitude, a point driven home by the fact that they even escaped the major effects of the 2008 market crash and were largely unscathed even then. A huge part of their immunity to market movements was largely because of the Chinese investments in the country which continued unabated. This time however Australia China relations are at an all-time low and Australia is looking to India fill the void. This comes as a huge opportunity for India and Indian companies to come in and capitalise on the same. We, as an association think we are the best placed to facilitate this because we have made significant inroads in the Australian market already and have a lot of interested and important people on board which includes a lot of VC’s, Government officials and Entrepreneurs.

Dear Members,

I would like to highlight the exciting opportunities that lie ahead for trade between Australia and India. As you all know, our two nations have a long-standing relationship built on shared values and a commitment to economic growth and prosperity.

One of the most significant developments in recent times has been the establishment of the Australia-India Free Trade Agreement. This agreement has the potential to unlock enormous opportunities for businesses of all sizes and in all sectors. By reducing barriers to trade and investment, it will enable us to deepen our economic ties and unlock new markets for Australian and Indian businesses.

In addition to the free trade agreement, we are also seeing the emergence of the Quad Protocol, which includes Australia, India, Japan, and the United States. This grouping offers a unique opportunity for businesses to collaborate and innovate across borders, and to explore new opportunities for growth and expansion.

With the world changing rapidly, it is essential that we take advantage of these new opportunities to strengthen our economic relationship with India. Whether you are a large multinational corporation or a small business looking to expand your reach, there are opportunities for everyone.

At the Australia India Trade Association, we are committed to supporting our members in their efforts to grow their businesses and seize these exciting new opportunities. We will continue to work closely with government and industry stakeholders to ensure that our members have the tools and resources they need to succeed in the fast-paced world of international trade.

Thank you for your ongoing support of the Australia India Trade Association, and we look forward to working with you as we build a stronger, more prosperous future for both Australia and India.

Best regards,

Ashish Katta
