
The major industries of Tasmania, have been: mining, agriculture, aquaculture, fishing, forestry; and tourism. Mining has including copper, zinc, tin, iron and gold. Food production has included salmon, beef, chicken, pork, dairy and lamb farming, as well as a variety of fruits and vegetables.Tasmania’s export sector is critical to our State’s economic future and growth, with exports of goods and services in 2019-20 estimated at $5.014 billion – or contributing approximately 16 per cent of Gross State Product. Of this, the nominal value of Tasmania’s goods exports were valued at $3.702 billion. Tasmania’s trade interests are currently supported by a number of free trade agreements to which the Australian Government is a signatory. These agreements cover over 90 per cent of Tasmania’s goods exports by value, including agreements with China, Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, the United States, Malaysia, Korea and Indonesia.
